Such sorrow and widespread loss is almost incomprehensible, and often results in a sense of hopelessness and the incapacity to do anything.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0d467ba elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0d467ba\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">But exactly the opposite happened.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6d16142 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6d16142\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Like so many other like-hearted people across the country, instead of hopelessness, we jumped into action. First, contacting those we knew in the South, making sure they were safe, out of harm&#8217;s way, and then reaching out to others who were on the ground doing the hard work, asking how we could be of support and service. We\u2019ve included a few links below <a href=\"#resource-links\">(jump to links)<\/a> for those who are looking for ways to connect to direct action.<\/p><p><strong>Action is the opposite of hopelessness<\/strong>; it carries with it hope and the sense of empowerment that we can and are making a difference.\u00a0The feeling of hope brings the awareness that we are not alone in this work and often connects us to a community of other hopeful beings. We learn that together we not only can make a difference, but are the difference.<\/p><p>All of us here &#8211; our \u2018small but mighty team\u2019, as Helen likes to call us &#8211; have been holding our Southern friends in our hearts, sending supplies and donations, and doing what we can to help those who have lost loved ones, their homes, and businesses. Such a horrific tragedy\u2026but also how incredible to see people come together creating a force of such goodness and heartfulness that it spreads across the country, bringing us together, instead of apart.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"has_ae_slider elementor-element elementor-element-5d4d30c e-con-full e-flex ae-bg-gallery-type-default e-con e-child\" data-id=\"5d4d30c\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f99ea88 elementor-blockquote--skin-clean elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"f99ea88\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\t\u201cIf you have ever felt like humans are a sorry lot from all of the cruelty and war, know that people come together when things fall apart in a way that you could never imagine. The generosity and kindness and impromptu organization and everyone looking out for each other\u2026there are very few outliers doing anything selfish. Does it know if it will grow, or how it will grow, or what it will become when it\u2019s dropped from the Mother Tree? Or that single kernel of Corn when it\u2019s planted in the Earth. Does it know that it will sprout and grow into a thousand kernels, enough to feed a village? We are powerful like those seeds, a mighty force of Nature when we choose to be.<\/p><p>While this storm was devastating, we know it\u2019s not the last\u2026the warnings and predictions we received from our elders so many years ago are coming to pass. There are few among us who don\u2019t agree that change needs to happen. <b>And who other than us to make these changes?<\/b><\/p><p>That\u2019s what this storm, and the others like it\u2014the fires, the droughts, the extreme weather conditions that are affecting not only us humans but all life on Earth\u2014is asking of me now. How willing am I to make the changes in my life that I know are necessary?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-56be237 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"56be237\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">This storm is asking the same question of each of us.
